The Southland Conference Board of Directors says league competition in the sports of football, volleyball, women’s soccer and cross country will be postponed from the fall semester with an intent to explore competition in the spring semester. Presidents of the 13 Southland members also authorized planning for spring semester championship events for volleyball, soccer and cross country. Southeastern Director of Athletics Jay Artigues said Southeastern Louisiana Athletics supports the league’s decision and that student-athletes’ safety and well-being comes first. He added they are preparing for an exciting and busy spring. University President Dr. John Crain said that as president, the welfare of the student-athletes is his top priority, while also protecting the university as a whole.
