The Louisiana Department of Health reported 3,119 new cases on Sunday, which included Saturday’s numbers, so it was a two day total.
1,469 are in hospitals with 177 of them on vents. 34 more deaths were added to the total, bringing it to 3,433. More than 12% of the tests reported were positive.
Louisiana last had this many COVID-19 patients hospitalized on May 6th, and this many on ventilators on May 8th. Acadiana and the Baton Rouge region reported the most cases. 32% of the cases were people 29 and younger. 95% of the new cases are from community spread.
