The St Tammany Chamber of Commerce reminds everyone that early voting ends this Saturday.
Votes can be cast from 8:30 AM to 6:00 PM at these locations: The St. Tammany Parish Justice Center Parking Garage at 601 N. Jefferson Ave. in Covington; St. Tammany Parish Government Headquarters at 21490 Koop Dr., Building A, in Mandeville; and The St. Tammany Parish Clerk of Court Office at 520 Old Spanish Trail (Towers Building) in Slidell.
Two issues on select ballots will be Slidell Memorial Hospital, which seeks approval of a $51.5 million bond issue that would pay for a new pediatric and primary care outpatient center, upgrades and expansions to the women and infants center, cancer care clinic and emergency room, as well as additional parking.
And St Tammany Schools Superintendent Frank Jabbia is asking voters to renew a 20-year millage. This is not a new tax, but a continuation of existing support for St. Tammany Schools. The $351 million bond would fund $251 million in safety upgrades, improved technology, school and classroom renovations at 23 campuses, and other needs.
