Crime Stoppers of Tangipahoa says Night Out Against Crime will be held on October 23rd in the 100 block of North Cypress Street, downtown Hammond, starting at 5:00PM.
This event is conjunction with Hammond’s Downtown Development District’s Trick a Treat event.
Families, neighbors, and community members are invited to participate in this special night dedicated to strengthening community-police partnerships and raising awareness about crime prevention.
The Night Out Against Crime event will feature a variety of activities and resources aimed at educating families on safety and security. In addition to celebrating Night Out Against Crime, TRACC (Tangipahoa Reshaping Attitudes for Community Change) will officially kick-off “Red Ribbon Week,” the nation’s oldest and largest drug prevention awareness campaign. Red Ribbon has symbolized a continuing commitment to reducing the demand for illicit drugs in our communities. The TRACC Coalition is asking community partners to take a visible stand against drugs in recognition of National Red Ribbon Week, encouraging business owners, civic leaders, and other community organizations to promote healthy attitudes that support drug-free lifestyles.
Hammond City Police Chief Edwin Bergeron said this night is not just about addressing crime; it’s about building relationships, raising awareness, and creating a safer environment for all citizens.
The event is free and open to the public.
