Southeastern Louisiana University is quickly approaching a major milestone, its 100th year.
To commemorate this occasion, Southeastern will kick off a year-long Centennial celebration, filled with events and initiatives, on Sept. 12. Beginning at 2 p.m., in the Student Union breezeway, Southeastern will honor its 99th birthday. The university will make a surprise announcement and present guest speakers, as well as distribute giveaways to attendees.
Southeastern President William S. Wainwright said that after opening its doors on Sept. 14, 1925, Southeastern Louisiana University now celebrates a century of impact.
Throughout the year, Southeastern will offer a wide array of opportunities to get involved with the celebration. Area restaurant partners will offer signature 100th anniversary dishes or drinks, and lectures and concerts are scheduled during the fall 2025 Centennial Fanfare. At most events, attendees will have the opportunity to sign their name in the Centennial Signature Book, which will be archived for future generations to cherish. A special volunteerism campaign will also be part of the year-long celebration, in which volunteers can log hours of service to collectively reach 100 weeks of giving back.
