
On July 25, 2024, detectives with the Hammond Police Department Narcotics Division observed 36 YO Shelton Bean of Hammond enter a residence near Range Road.
Detectives knew Bean held multiple outstanding warrants for his arrest.
After multiple attempts to get Bean to exit the residence, the residence was secured and the HPD SWAT Team was activated. Bean eventually exited the residence and was placed under arrest without incident.
A search warrant was secured and executed on the residence. As a result of the search warrant the following was seized: Approximately 740 grams of marijuana, Approximately 56 grams of suspected fentanyl, Approximately 35.3 grams of suspected cocaine, Approximately .90 grams of suspected crack cocaine, a Ruger LCP, 380 caliber, handgun (reported stolen), and a Large digital scale.
Bean has a history of illegal narcotics arrests and convictions. As a result of the search warrant, Bean was arrested on multiple drug charges.
55 YO Shelton Johnson of Hammond, was also arrested for Illegal Possession of a Stolen Firearm.
The Hammond Police Department wants to remind citizens that fentanyl is a deadly drug that results in the deaths of hundreds of Americans every day. Fentanyl has been found in many different forms of drugs ranging from cocaine, pills, methamphetamine, heroin, and marijuana.
