The Tangipahoa Parish Library will commemorate the 80th Anniversary of D-Day.
On June 6, 1944, Allied forces launched the largest seaborne invasion in the history of the world at Normandy, France. Three airborne divisions, two American and one British, dropped behind the German lines in the hours before dawn. Then the largest amphibious assault in history began.
This Thursday, June 6, the Tangipahoa Parish Library will commemorate the 80th Anniversary of this great event. Dr. Stuart Tully, professor of history at Nicholls State University, will lead a D-Day Then and Now presentation at the Hammond Branch Library at 7 pm. Dr. Tully earned his Ph.D. in American History from LSU with a minor in World History.
The library especially wants to honor our veterans at this free program. If you are a veteran, we encourage you and your family to attend.
