Slidell Police are investigating a fatal motorcycle crash, which occurred shortly before 8:00 pm Sunday.
The preliminary investigation indicates that a 2009 Kawasaki ZX-6R motorcycle, being driven by 31 YO Ryan Smith, was traveling southbound on Sgt. Alfred Drive near the intersection of Guzman Street. For reasons still under investigation, the motorcycle left the roadway to the right and struck several roadside objects.
This impact caused Smith to be separated from his motorcycle and hit a parked vehicle. As a result, Smith sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced deceased on the scene.
Traffic Fatality investigators are still analyzing evidence and witness statements. It is unknown at this time if impairment was a factor, but as part of the investigation, a blood sample was collected from Smith. Toxicology results are pending.
The crash remains under investigation.
