An Abita Springs man wanted in connection with a Lacombe-area murder is now in custody.
Members of the U.S. Marshals Task Force responded to a Kentwood-area residence Wednesday (February 28) morning, after investigators with the St. Tammany Parish Sheriff’s Office obtained information that wanted murder suspect Marrio Haynes Jr. was possibly staying at the home.
Haynes was in fact located at the residence, and he was taken into custody without incident. His co-defendant and girlfriend, Megan Coleman, who was previously arrested for her role in the murder but had since bonded out of jail, was also located at the home. Coleman now faces an additional charge of Accessory After the Fact for aiding Haynes in avoiding capture. She was booked into the Tangipahoa Parish Jail. Haynes was also booked into the Tangipahoa Parish Jail as a fugitive and is awaiting extradition to St. Tammany.
Haynes and Coleman were involved in a fatal shooting which occurred December 26, 2023, outside a Lacombe-area gas station. Coleman was arrested and booked into the St. Tammany Parish Correctional Center that same night and a warrant for Second-degree Murder was issued for Haynes’ arrest.
Sheriff Randy Smith would like to thank both the U.S. Marshal’s Service and Tangipahoa Parish Sheriff’s Office for their assistance in locating and taking Coleman and Haynes into custody.
