Slidell’s Annual Community Thanksgiving Dinner will be hosted by Aldersgate United Methodist Church on Thursday, Nov. 23.
This year, meals will be available either by delivery, pick-up, or for those wanting to dine-in, there will be a communal dining room set up at the church.
Aldersgate UMC, as well as other area churches and organizations, are gearing up for another successful event.
Reservations are needed for all meals, whether they are delivered, picked-up or eaten onsite.
Dinners will include smoked turkey and dressing, mashed potatoes and gravy, green beans, cranberry sauce, rolls and pie.
Meal deliveries will be made between 10:30 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. People wishing to pick up meals can do so starting at 11 a.m. at Aldersgate UMC, 360 Robert Blvd. The on-site dining room will be open from 11:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
The dinner’s organizing committee is recruiting volunteers to help prepare 1,500 meals. This is the 25th annual Thanksgiving event and more than 34,500 meals have been served during its history. Approximately 200 volunteers are needed to get the traditional meals from the kitchen stove to area dinner tables. Jobs include cooking, meal box assembly, delivery and clean up.
