Sunday night, shortly after 9:30 p.m., Troopers from State Police Troop L began investigating a fatal crash involving a motorcycle on I-59 near U.S. Hwy 11 in St. Tammany Parish.
The crash claimed the life of 44 YO James O’Donnell of Slidell.
The initial investigation revealed the crash occurred as a 2006 Suzuki Hayabusa, driven by O’Donnell, was northbound on I-59. For reasons still under investigation, the Suzuki traveled off the roadway to the left and into the median.
O’Donnell was ejected from the Suzuki.
Although wearing a DOT-approved helmet, O’Donnell suffered fatal injuries as a result of the crash. He was pronounced deceased on the scene.
A routine toxicology sample was obtained from O’Donnell and submitted for analysis.
This crash remains under investigation.
