On August 14 the Hammond Police Department responded to the Piggly Wiggly on Highway 190 East in reference to a theft that occurred on August 12 at approximately 4:30 pm.
After speaking with witnesses, HPD detectives learned that a white male suspect wearing a blue shirt and tan shorts arrived at the store and took an unknown amount of merchandise without paying for it.
