Last night the City of Covington Fire Department worked a fire at the Cleco substation near Phillip Drive off Ronald Reagan Highway.
Cleco was on scene.
Covington Fire asked everyone to please avoid the area as power was out in much of the area and red lights were not working.
As of 10 pm Cleco provided an update saying their crews continued working to restore power. Over 17,000 customers lost power, at 10 there were approximately 3,500 customers that remained without power. A full restoration was expected by midnight. However, there was a chance that the damage could be more extensive which could leave any of the following subdivisions without power: Barkley Park, Lakewood Northshore, Oak Alley Meadows, Pruden Acres, North Creek, and Penn Mill Place.
