From our weather partners at WDSU.
Dangerously hot weather still has a few more days to go.
An Excessive Heat Warning has now been issued through Friday for feels-like temperatures up to 117 degrees. Friday will be the last of the most intensely hot days in this heat wave. WDSU said we’ll still be very close to record highs through the weekend, but they think Friday is the last day where we realistically have any chance to tie or break the existing record.
This prolonged period of extreme heat significantly increase the potential for heat-related illnesses, particularly for those working or participating in outdoor activities. Symptoms include feeling faint, dizzy and nauseous. Stay hydrated, stay out of the sun and in an air-conditioned room if possible, and check up on relatives and neighbors.
