A Slidell-area student was arrested after he sent a threatening message to another student.
Tuesday evening, St. Tammany Sheriff’s deputies were made aware of threatening messages sent via social media by a student of a Slidell-area junior high school. The juvenile sent messages threatening bodily harm toward a staff member at the school to another student using his personal social media account.
Deputies identified the sender of the messages as a 14 YO Slidell-area juvenile.
That juvenile was taken into custody and transported to the Florida Parishes Juvenile Detention Center to be booked on one count of Terrorizing.
Sheriff Randy Smith said once again they want to make it very clear that law enforcement and the school system will take threats like this very seriously. He said they will continue to work with schools and investigate any and all threats at the schools or to the students and faculty who attend them.
