
According to Twenty-first Judicial DA Scott M. Perrilloux, 26 YO Tysheen Kelley of Hammond pleaded guilty to the felony charges of Illegal Discharge of a Firearm from a Motor Vehicle, Aggravated Obstruction of a Highway, Possession Of Firearm or Carrying Concealed Weapon by Convicted Felon, and Domestic Abuse Battery.
Kelley was sentenced to serve 14 years with the Department of Corrections by the Honorable William S. Dykes, and Assistant District Attorney Le’Anne Malnar stood for the prosecution.
On April 4 of 2022, the Hammond Police Department responded to an incident of occupants of two vehicles shooting at one another while driving southbound on Pecan St. Two victims took cover behind a parked vehicle whose rear-window was shattered by the shooting.
They reported the two cars then drove opposite directions on W. Church St.
Officers were able to identify an occupant of one of the vehicles as Tysheen Kelley due to previous encounters with law enforcement.
Law enforcement was also able to discover Kelley and the occupants of the other vehicle were in an argument before the shooting began on Pecan St.
On May 26, Kelley was arrested by the Hammond Police Department for his outstanding warrants. 20 YO Geralcoe Toney of Robert, 20 YO Lydell Lamonte Griffin Jr. of Hammond and 22 YO Dejon Warner of Ponchatoula were also arrested in connection to the shooting.
