
St. Tammany Coroner Dr. Charles Preston has positively identified the man struck and killed on I-10 near Slidell early Sunday.
27 YO Cordarell Rudolph of Admiral Nelson Dr. in Slidell died after being struck by several vehicles on I-10 near mile marker 263 shortly after 3 a.m.
An autopsy will be conducted later this week.
Troopers from State Police Troop L are investigating. The preliminary investigation revealed that Rudolph was wearing dark clothing and walking in the roadway on I-10 eastbound. At the same time, a 2021 Kia K5 was eastbound on I-10. For reasons still under investigation, the Kia struck Rudolph. After striking Rudolph, the Kia fled the scene. During the investigation, Troopers identified 24 YO Anthawan Riley Jr. of Suffolk, Virginia as the driver. Neither Riley Jr. nor the two passengers sustained injuries as a result of the crash.
As part of the ongoing investigation, a routine toxicology sample was obtained from Rudolph for analysis.
Troopers arrested Riley Jr. for felony Hit and Run.
