St. Tammany Coroner Dr. Charles Preston positively identified the man killed in a head-on vehicle collision in Mandeville over the weekend as 52 YO Barry Labourdette.
He lived on Moonraker Dr. in Slidell and died shortly after 9 p.m. Saturday when the car in which he was a passenger was involved in a head-on collision on Hwy. 190 / Florida Street in Mandeville.
The Mandeville Police Department said the initial investigation indicated that a black Lexus SUV was traveling westbound on Florida St. when a white Ford Edge that was traveling eastbound, for reasons still under investigation, crossed into the oncoming lane. The two vehicles then collided head on resulting in injuries to the occupants in both vehicles. All occupants were then transported to local hospital for treatment, unfortunately, the passenger of the Ford Edge succumbed to his injuries.
Impairment is suspected to be a factor in this crash.
