27 YO Michael Bayham of Denham Springs pleaded no contest to the felony charge of Cruelty to a Juvenile and was sentenced to 20 years incarcerated, according to the Twenty-First Judicial DA Scott M. Perrilloux.
Bayham was arrested on May 15 of last year when an individual submitted evidence of Bayham abusing a young child.
He was sentenced to serve 20 years with the department of corrections, with credit for time served, by the Honorable William S. Dykes, and Assistant District Attorney Brad Cascio represented the prosecution.
After watching the initial video on May 14, law enforcement procured an arrest warrant and a search warrant. The Livingston Parish Sheriff’s Office was able to discover that Bayham used his phone to record himself verbally and physically abusing the victim. Through their investigation, they also arrested Jamie King for Cruelty to a Juvenile on June 14 of 2022. King is set to appear for a jury trial later this year in May.
A protective order is in place preventing Bayham and King from contacting the victim.
