Last night TPSO deputies were on scene at Natalbany Middle School where the campus was put on lockdown during a sporting event.
Chief Jimmy Travis reported the reason for the late-night lockdown was a vehicle pursuit in which two subjects fled near the school.
One subject was taken into custody, while the other was still at large.
The school was put on lockdown as a precautionary measure to assure the safety of the students, staff and their families. All patrons were safe within the school, as numerous deputies were on scene holding a perimeter.
Officers with the Hammond Police Department were also on scene as the pursuit was initiated by their agency.
As of 8:45 PM, the lockdown was complete and students and parents were allowed to leave but deputies remained on the scene. A helicopter was confirmed to be circling the area searching for the other subject, and will continue to assist the Hammond Police Department in their search.
