
Hammond Mayor Pete Panepinto secured a third term by winning a run-off with 61 percent of the vote or 1,903 votes.
His challenger, Tracy Washington Wells, received 1,193 votes, or 39 percent of the vote.
In Kentwood, incumbent Rochelle Bates fell short in his re-election bid with 287 votes to former incumbent Irma Gordon’s 294 votes.
Longtime School Board incumbent Sandra Bailey Simmons received just 45 percent of the vote in Saturday’s run-off with first-time candidate Joey Piazza getting 55 percent to be elected. Simmons has served on the board since the death of her first husband who died suddenly in 2001.
