Over the past week, the Covington Police Department received numerous complaints of “Deputy James Franklin” and “Deputy Spinks” of the “Covington Police Department,” calling citizens to request payment for fines over the phone.
These people are also stating that if the person does not pay their fine over the phone, they will issue a warrant for their arrest.
The Covington Police Department would like to remind citizens that they never accept payments for fines over the phone nor will anyone be arrested for not paying over the phone.
If you receive any suspicious call of this nature, be sure to contact the Covington Police Department immediately and do not comply with these scammers.
