Winds may be strongest for areas closer to water and mainly in the afternoon hours Wednesday. Be sure to secure loose items.
Hurricane Ian has strengthened into a category 4 storm with sustained winds of 140 mph. It will make landfall in SW Florida later today, bringing surge as high as 12 feet, and winds over 100 mph to the Ft. Meyers area. If the current forecast holds, the Tampa area would miss the worst surge, but rain and winds will still be rough in that area.
