Team members from Woodward Interests and the Sucette Harbor team were present last night as the City of Mandeville held a special Planning & Zoning meeting at the Spitzfaden Community Center.
Their large proposed development would be next to Marinas Village in Mandeville.
The land has been donated by the Copeland Foundation to the LSU Health Foundation, New Orleans.
They have leased the land to Woodward Interests to develop it.
The proposed development would be designed for an active senior living community. There would be age restricted apartments, a boutique hotel with event venue, restaurants and a marina.
Bill Hoffman, president of Woodward Interests made a presentation regarding the scope of the property. The committee had the opportunity to ask questions before comments and questions were taken from the public. The hottest topics, in what was a civilized and well-run process, seemed to be traffic and parking.
The room was crowded, with plenty of elected officials and interested citizens. The meeting ran just over two hours.
More topic meetings to be held in the future with the next meeting to be held at the community center at 6 pm on October 12 to discuss Landscape and Site Development.
