Mandeville Mayor Clay Madden said an application was submitted to the City of Mandeville electronically for the LSU owned property near Mariner’s Village on Friday, August 19.
The application was in a format that the Planning Department was not able to open.
As a result, they requested the developers, Woodward Design, meet at City Hall, and that meeting occurred on Monday.
Madden called the proposed project a mixed-use development containing age-restricted residential, commercial, and amenities such as boat slips, a boat launch, pickle ball courts, a hotel and restaurants.
He thinks the developers will have to request variances from the Planning & Zoning Commission including height, hotel square footage, removal of live oak trees, and parking spaces.
As a result, the Planning Department has deemed it necessary to have a special Planning and Zoning meeting for the purposes of public input and allowing the applicant to present their plans.
Madden said that meeting is set for Wednesday, September 21, at 6 pm at the Mandeville Spitzfaden Community Center and the public is invited to attend.
