
Shortly after 8:00 AM on Saturday morning, the St. Tammany Sheriff’s Office Marine Division, with the assistance of the United States Coast Guard and Fire District 1, recovered the body of a 31 YO Marrero man that jumped from the twin spans on Thursday night.
The St. Tammany Parish Coroner’s Office has positively identified the man as Jermaine Smith.
On Thursday night just after 8:30 PM, deputies responded to a call of an individual that jumped off the Twin Spans in Slidell. The 31 year old male was experiencing a mental health crisis at the time.
Sheriff Randy Smith said there are resources available for those experiencing a mental health crisis and he commended the hard work of the search team in giving this family some type of closure.
