September is Hunger Action Month and the Northshore Food Bank is inviting community businesses to “Go Orange” and help bring awareness to hunger in St Tammany Parish.
Everyone has felt the impact of rising costs in food, gas, shelter and clothing.
Some are feeling the strain more than others.
In the last two months alone, Northshore Food Bank has seen a 10% increase in participant registrations. Consequently, the food bank also recognized a 40% decrease in food donations as donors are feeling the effects, too.
After slow summer months, the support of our community during Hunger Action Month is crucial to both creating awareness and increasing needed donations.
What can businesses do to “Go Orange with Us”? Here are just a few ideas. Host a giveback day utilizing either something orange (example: purchase of an orange snoball resulting in a donation for the food bank) or something that makes your connection to the food bank and Hunger Action month. Hosting events in September? Encourage food donations at the event. Host a food or fund drive. Share our social media posts and #goorangewithus. Have you ever been impacted by food insecurity? Share your story and tag us @northshorefoodbank.
