Washington Parish Sheriff Randy Seal says the Louisiana man accused of murdering a Bogalusa bar owner during an armed robbery last week should face the death penalty.
Seal made his declaration in a statement provided to media three days after authorities in Mississippi captured 51 YO David Rester Jr. after a high-speed chase that ended an alleged six-day crime spree.
Rester stands accused of robbing and committing a sexual battery against a convenience store clerk Feb. 27 in the Pearl River area, robbing and killing Pub Lounge owner Marl Wayne Smith in Bogalusa on March 3, and of robbing a bank and attempting to evade arrest March 4 in Waveland, Miss.
As of yesterday, Rester remained in custody in Harrison County, Miss., and it has not been determined when he will be extradited to face a murder charge in Louisiana.
