State Fire Marshal deputies were called to the scene of a fire investigation in Franklinton involving one death.
Firefighters were called to the 45000 block of Jamieson Creek Road around 4 a.m. Sunday for a report of a mobile home fire with an occupant inside and unable to escape.
Unfortunately, the elderly female victim died before she could be rescued.
The investigation is ongoing.
Temperatures in this area were in the upper 20s/lower 30s at the time leading many families to turn to various heating sources to stay warm. As always, the State fire Marshal’s Office asks residents to PLEASE practice safe home heating.
