DA Warren Montgomery reminds citizens that unfortunately during times of crisis there are those that look to take advantage of the hardships that many are facing from in the wake of Hurricane Ida.
Montgomery says those who look to take advantage of the citizens of Washington and St. Tammany Parish will be met with the full weight of the criminal prosecution arm of the District Attorney’s Office.
Montgomery says if you believe you have been criminally taken advantage of, know the law, be informed and contact his office.
The DA’s office offered a few tips to help out. Use a licensed contractor. Get at least 3 different estimates before deciding on a contractor to fix your home. It’s always good to pay with a credit card, so you can dispute the charges if need be. And be extra cautious when out-of-state contractors show up at your door.
