
In St Tammany two big ballot issues were given a yes vote over the weekend.
Slidell Memorial Hospital will continue with growth projects and updates after their proposal passed 52 to 48%. Sandy Badinger, Chief Executive Officer of Slidell Memorial Hospital, made a real educational push, repeatedly discussing the enhancements and improvements currently under way at the Comprehensive Cancer Care Clinic, the Emergency Room, and the Women’s and Infants’ Center, and outlining plans to create a new family-centered Pediatric and Primary Care patient center, as well as improvements for additional parking.
St Tammany Schools Superintendent Frank Jabbia issued a statement following the success of their millage vote, 56 to 44%, on Saturday. He said he wanted to thank the voters of St. Tammany Parish for continuing to support public education. He said with the approval of the Building Futures, Securing Tomorrow bond renewal, they will be able to fund critical projects, including the removal of all academic portable classrooms, construction of a new Healthcare and STEM Discovery Center, and enhancements to school security, transportation, and technology across the district. Jabbia said the improvements will benefit all 36,384 students and 6,051 employees across their 55 schools. He said they are committed to providing safe, modern, and supportive learning environments and this community support reaffirms shared dedication to the success of their students and the future of St. Tammany Parish.
