An Arabi-area man was being arrested after he was caught in the act while stealing a vehicle at a Slidell-area home.
A resident on North Summerfield Loop near Slidell called the St. Tammany Parish Sheriff’s Office Monday (April 14) morning after she saw an unknown masked black male steal her 2018 Yukon from her driveway.
Patrol deputies with the STPSO 1st District quickly located the vehicle near Oak Harbor and Interstate 10. Using a safety feature on the vehicle, the vehicle was remotely disabled on the Twin Spans. At which time, the perpetrator jumped off the bridge and into Lake Pontchartrain.
Members of the STPSO Marine Division responded to assist, and the perpetrator, 36-year-old Keith Hebert of Arabi, was retrieved from the water and taken into custody. He was transported to a local hospital to be evaluated. Upon release he was booked into the St. Tammany Parish Correctional Center.
