Northshore Media Group has dropped a new podcast about a Northshore cold case. Louisiana State Police released the following details about this cold case they are now actively working.
On February 9, 1982, 16-year-old Roxanne Sharp was reported missing from Covington, Louisiana. Three days later, her body was discovered near Covington Fair Grounds by participants of the Dixie Trail Ride. Investigators determined she had been deceased for 2–3 days before her body was found, with her last known sighting at Lee Road Quick Stop (at the intersection of Lee Road and Hornsby Street in Covington, Louisiana).
Roxanne was a young mother whose life was tragically cut short by an act of violence.
For over 40 years, her case has remained unsolved.
Today, with advanced forensic techniques and renewed investigations by the Louisiana State Police Criminal Investigations Division and the Covington Police Department, efforts are underway to bring justice to Roxanne and her family. Investigators believe the killer(s) were local residents and that someone in the community may still hold the key to cracking the case. Fear of retaliation once kept witnesses silent, but it’s never too late to speak up. If you have any information—no matter how small—please come forward. Your tip could be the key to solving this cold case and finally bringing justice to Roxanne. Also, if you know someone from the Covington area who lived there at the time, please encourage them to come forward as well. They may recall something that seemed insignificant then but could now help move the case forward.
We are still actively investigating; any details from that period could be critical in finding answers. Call: (985) 635-3167. Email: NorthshoreColdCase@la.gov.
