For the past three years, the Southeastern Louisiana University Police Department has been spreading smiles, one toy at a time.
Lt. Ronald Plaisance and Sgt. Michelle Blanchard created LEOs (Law Enforcement Officers) and Lions for Little Ones in 2022. The organizations collect toys for the patients at Children’s Hospital in New Orleans throughout the year, with an extra push during the holidays. F
irst Lady Misty Wainwright co-sponsored the drive this year with UPD. Toys are donated for children from newborn to teenagers and include books, games, electronics and more. Donations are first inspected by the hospital staff then they are set out for the parents to “shop” for the toys they think will best suit their child. The toys are then wrapped and delivered to the patients on Christmas morning.
