Covington Police Department arrested two individuals in connection with a shooting incident that occurred on Tuesday, December 3, 2023.
Shortly after 12:30 PM, CPD Officers responded to the 1000-block of West 33rd Avenue in reference to reports of gunshots being fired in the area. Upon arrival, Officers found no injuries but did collect evidence and witness statements indicating that two individuals had exchanged gunfire. Through a thorough investigation, detectives identified two suspects who were apprehended with the support of the CPD Special Response Team: Nahshon McGary, a 17-year-old from Ponchatoula, and Dewan Reed, a 23-year-old from Covington.
Both suspects were arrested on charges of Attempted Second Degree Murder and Aggravated Criminal Damage, among other charges, and booked into the St. Tammany Parish Correctional Center.
