The St. Tammany Parish Sheriff’s Office arrested a 15-year-old Covington-area boy on Sunday after he allegedly made statements on social media about plans to take a gun to school on Monday, Dec. 9.
According to Sheriff Randy Smith, the teen sent Instagram messages threatening to not only bring the weapon to school, but also use it to shoot someone he claimed was spreading rumors about him. When arrested, he allegedly admitted to deputies that he did not have a gun, nor did he have access to one.
The student was arrested for Terrorizing, and was released to a parent on a custodial agreement to appear in court after STPSO determined there were no firearms at his residence.
