
The Hammond Police Department is currently searching for Christopher Delcambre, 50 years old, who is wanted for felony theft charges.
He is also wanted for other felony charges through at least three different agencies.
On November 17, 2024, Delcambre led HPD officers on a high speed pursuit in a stolen vehicle. During the pursuit, a jetski and trailer fell from the stolen vehicle nearly causing multiple accidents. He also struck a vehicle during the pursuit. The chase ended in Robert when the vehicle crashed, with Delcambre and an unidentified female fleeing from the vehicle. A lengthy search for both subjects, with the assistance of multiple agencies, ensued but both subjects were able to evade officers.
On November 18, 2024, officers were advised of a possible location of Delcambre in Robert. HPD Officers along with TPSO, Homeland Security, and US Customs air support arrived in the area. After another lengthy search through a heavy wooded and wet area, Delcambre was again able to evade officers due to the inclement weather. Officers did locate Delcambre’s phone and wallet near the Tangipahoa River where Officers believe Delcambre entered the river.
As of November 20, 2024, Delcambre is still wanted by multiple agencies and was seen in the Robert/Ponchatoula area. Delcambre is believed to have stolen a boat that was later recovered on the Tangipahoa River. It is believed that Delcambre is still in the Robert/Ponchatoula area on foot.
