Yesterday officers with the Hammond Police Department identified Roger Lefort, 28 years old of Hammond, as the suspect in a burglary in the 1500 block area of Pecan Street.
Members of the HPD Criminal Investigations Division located Lefort behind Channell Shopping Center where he was arrested. He was transported to Hammond City Jail where he was charged with Home Invasion, Resisting Arrest Violently and 2 counts of Schedule II Narcotics.
A few days before the suspect was identified only as a black male and walking a white and brown dog. That suspect entered a home and was able to steal a few items before the owner surprised him.
