Last week detectives from the Louisiana State Police Special Victims Unit (LSP SVU) arrested 33 YO Joel Champagne of Baton Rouge for attempting to engage in sexual acts with a minor.
On September 27, 2024, LSP SVU, in collaboration with the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) and the St. Tammany Parish Sheriff’s Office, initiated an investigation related to the solicitation of a minor.
Champagne was identified as the suspect. He attempted to engage in sexual intercourse with a 14 YO juvenile and requested to travel to meet for sexual intercourse with the minor.
On October 17, 2024, Champagne traveled from his residence in Baton Rouge, LA to a meeting location in St. Tammany Parish with the intent to engage in sexual activity with a minor.
As a result, Champagne was arrested for Computer Aided Solicitation of a Minor and Indecent Behavior with Juveniles. He was booked into the St. Tammany Parish Jail.
This case remains active and is ongoing pending further investigation. No further information is available.
