After consultation with business and community leaders, elected officials, and the citizens of St. Tammany Parish, Parish Government has decided to schedule the Sales Tax District #3 re-dedication and extension election for Spring 2025.
The initiative is intended to provide sustainable funding for roads, bridges and drainage infrastructure, while also addressing the financial needs of public safety agencies.
Parish Government said this measure is so critically important to the quality of life and safety for the residents of St. Tammany Parish that it deserves to stand on its own and not be lost in the shuffle of other elections. By moving this proposition, there will be more time to educate citizens, who in the fall, will be focusing on the Presidential Election. The administration and Parish Council have listened to St. Tammany citizens, and said they have worked diligently to determine a path forward to secure funding for both infrastructure and public safety agencies without raising taxes.
The administration and Council said they are excited to present that plan to the voters in the coming months.
