Slidell Police says over the last several months, multiple high-risk warrants were recently executed by the Slidell Police S.W.A.T. team on individuals who were murderers, gang members, armed robbers, most of which had a direct nexus to drug trafficking activity, vehicle theft, and property-related crimes.
Being uniquely positioned within three (3) major interstates, Slidell is sometimes chosen as a good centralized place for criminals to live. Investigators, on both the local and federal levels, have observed these criminals commit their violent crimes outside of the Northshore, but then come back to Slidell in order to hide and raise their families. In order to combat this, Chief Fandal implemented a new task force, named the KSS Task Force (Keep Slidell Safe), to combat the ever-growing war on drugs, illegal firearms, and violent gang-related activity.
The KSS Task Force consists of veteran officers from all specialized divisions. Since its implementation on April 1, 2024, the KSS Task Force has been responsible for 141 arrests in six short weeks. As a result of these arrests, the task force has seized the following: 34 grams of Cocaine, 52 grams of Fentanyl, 60 grams of Methamphetamine, 13 illegally possessed firearms, $18,342 seized from illegal narcotics proceeds, One arrest made for an Attempted Homicide from a neighboring jurisdiction, Two stolen vehicle recoveries (with arrests made), and Three residential search warrants executed on suspected drug dealer’s homes.
