
On Wednesday Slidell Police received information from Abney Elementary School regarding an irate subject who called the school making threatening statements.
The subject stated that he was going to the school with an AK-47 rifle to commit acts of violence.
Slidell Police placed the school on lockdown.
Within a few minutes, Slidell Police located the suspect at his apartment and placed him under arrest. Slidell Police investigators obtained a search warrant for the apartment, and during the search, no firearms were located.
Based on the nature of threats, the subject was charged with Terrorizing (felony) and an outstanding attachment for failure to appear in court.
Slidell Police Chief Randy Fandal said the safety of children will always be a top priority and the quick actions by both Abney Elementary and the responding officers should be commended.
