
The Covington Police Department charged 34 YO Zachary Lepine of Picayune with one count of First-Degree Rape, one count of Aggravated Burglary, one count of Felony Theft, and one count of Simple Battery.
In the early morning hours of January 15, 2024, CPD responded to a residence on East Magee Street in Covington after a report of someone breaking into an occupied home. After further investigation, it was determined that Lepine entered the residence and committed several sexual-related acts before fleeing when confronted by the homeowner.
CPD Officers were at the residence within minutes of being informed of the situation. After a brief chase, CPD Officers, along with Deputies with the St. Tammany Sheriff’s Office, located Lepine blocks away where he was taken into custody without incident.
This investigation is ongoing and additional charges are expected.
