
A driver was arrested for impairment and other charges following a single-vehicle crash that resulted in the death of one occupant near Pearl River.
At approximately 12:15 a.m. Sunday morning, deputies with the St. Tammany Traffic Division were dispatched to Archie Singletary Road in reference to a single-vehicle crash. Kendall Morris of Westminster, Colorado, was driving a Honda Pilot on Archie Singletary Road near Louisiana Highway 36 when she failed to maneuver a curve and the vehicle exited the roadway, striking a tree.
One male passenger was ejected from the vehicle and pronounced dead on scene. Morris and three additional passengers were transported by emergency medical personnel to area hospitals with various injuries.
Following an investigation, Morris was arrested for Driving While Impaired, Reckless Operation, three counts of First-Degree Negligent Injuring and one count of Vehicular Homicide. She will be booked into the St. Tammany Parish Correctional Center upon her release from the hospital.
Sheriff Randy Smith reminds all residents that drinking and driving do not mix and says as a last resort, if you find yourself impaired with no ride, call them at (985) 898-2338 and they will assist in getting you a ride home.
