On January 7, 2024, at approximately 2:00 am, the Hammond Police Department responded to a domestic disturbance where a female was reported as sustaining a stab wound to the neck.
Upon arrival, HPD officers found the victim near the steps of the residence holding her bleeding neck.
Officers learned that 46 YO Christopher Montrel Hoskins of Hammond engaged in a verbal argument that turned physical as Hoskins began choking the victim inside of her vehicle. During the struggle, the victim escaped through the passenger side door. Then Hoskins attacked her with a kitchen knife. The victim grabbed the knife, which caused a laceration to her palm, and threw it away from their location. Hoskins started to choke her again while saying that she was going to die.
A neighbor heard the screams for help, came outside with his gun, which convinced Hoskins to flee the scene in the victim’s vehicle.
The vehicle was later found in Livingston Parish.
Hoskins has an active warrant for his arrest for one count each of Attempted Second Degree Murder, Theft of a Motor Vehicle, Domestic Abuse-Child Endangerment Law and Felony Criminal Damage to Property.
