On December 12, the Washington Parish Sheriff’s Office was actively involved in a cross-county vehicle pursuit, initiated by the Pearl River County Sheriff’s Office.
The pursuit entered Washington Parish via the Pearl River Bridge on Highway 10, with the suspect identified as driving a black Nissan Sentra. Washington Parish Drug Task Force Detectives, already stationed in Bogalusa, relocated to a strategic point of Highway 21 and Highway 10 intersection to intercept. As the pursuit escalated, the suspect, Jakob Carnegie, was sighted heading north on Highway 21.
This operation followed a narcotics bust by the Pearl River County Sheriff’s Office Drug Task Force which saw the recovery of 7 lbs of Marijuana. Carnegie’s flight was a direct consequence of this operation.
The pursuit continued at speeds exceeding 100 mph, with Carnegie eventually losing control at the intersection of Benard Crain and Highway 62. The abandoned vehicle was found in a nearby field, with no occupants inside. Subsequent search efforts for Carnegie, involving the Rayburn Correctional Center K9 unit, were unsuccessful.
After extensive efforts, the search was terminated.
The Pearl River County Sheriff’s Office holds active felony warrants against Carnegie for Aggravated Assault on a Police Officer, Felony Fleeing, Tampering with Evidence, Trafficking of a Controlled Substance, and Conspiracy. Additionally, the Washington Parish Sheriff’s Office has issued warrants for Aggravated Flight from an Officer.
