Southeastern Louisiana University’s Communication Sciences and Disorders department will host a fundraiser in New Orleans called “Rockin’ for a Reason” on Sunday, Jan. 14, from 1 to 4 p.m.
Scheduled at Rock ‘n Bowl, located at 3016 South Carrollton Ave., the fundraiser will benefit special needs children and Southeastern speech-language therapy students. Tickets are $30, and all attendees must be 18 and older.
For the cost of admission, attendees will enjoy the music of the Lauren Lee Band, as well as bowling lane, shoe rentals and parking. Monies raised will allow Southeastern CSD students to volunteer at Ashley’s Learning Center, a non-profit school for special needs children created by parents; purchase materials and host and run a two-day “Speech Camp” for local children with communication deficits; and provide much needed training, tools and support to the local community, caregivers, teachers and professionals.
