Waterways of the Northshore by New Orleans artist Will Smith Jr., will open at the Christwood Atrium Gallery on January 13.
Smith, noted for his photo realistic landscapes of southern Louisiana, says the oils-on-canvas in the exhibit will feature the Tchefuncte and Bogue Falaya Rivers.
Originally from Natchez, Smith has, for many years, lived and worked as an artist and designer in New Orleans. Experienced in various media, he received a BFA in painting and sculpture (installation) at Birmingham-Southern College in Alabama and an MA in Art Therapy at Notre Dame de Namur University in Belmont, California. An accomplished graphic artist, his designs are seen in Mardi Gras posters, and his art is equally at home in the great 19th century Louisiana landscape tradition.
He is primarily represented by Gallery 600 Julia in the New Orleans Arts District, which features emerging and established Louisiana artists in changing solo and group shows featuring Southern Louisiana landscape as well as New Orleans street scenes and lively culture.
The Atrium Gallery is located in The Atrium at Christwood, 100 Christwood Blvd. in Covington (Entrance via Brewester Road) and is open to the public Monday through Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
