
On November 17, following the passing of District Attorney Warren Montgomery, First Assistant DA and long-time Chief Criminal Assistant DA J. Collin Sims, was sworn in as Interim District Attorney of the 22nd Judicial District.
Louisiana Supreme Court Justice William J. Crain presided over the swearing in.
Mr. Sims is from Mandeville and for more than 17 years has served as a criminal prosecutor, beginning as an Assistant District Attorney in Orleans Parish in 2006. In 2008, he accepted a position with the United States Attorney’s Office becoming one of the youngest Assistant US Attorneys in the country. He spent the next 7 years as a federal criminal prosecutor assigned as an Assistant United States Attorney in the Western District of Louisiana and then in the Eastern District of Louisiana.
In January of 2015, he accepted the position as Chief of the Criminal Division for the 22nd Judicial District Attorney’s Office for District Attorney Warren Montgomery to serve St. Tammany and Washington Parishes.
