Saturday night, shortly before 10:00 p.m., Troopers from State Police Troop L began investigating a two-vehicle crash on I-12 near LA Hwy 1077 in St. Tammany Parish.
The crash claimed the life of 36 YO Treddis Russell of Covington.
The initial investigation revealed the crash occurred as a 2024 Toyota Camry, driven by Russell, was eastbound on I-12. At the same time, a 2020 Kenworth 18-wheeler was also eastbound on I-12 directly in front of the Toyota. The Kenworth was traveling at a reduced speed due to traffic congestion.
For reasons still under investigation, the Toyota impacted the rear of the Kenworth’s trailer.
Despite being properly restrained, Russell sustained fatal injuries as a result of the crash. Russell was pronounced deceased on the scene. The driver of the Kenworth was properly restrained and was uninjured.
As part of the ongoing investigation, routine toxicology samples were obtained from both drivers for analysis.
